About Sophie

Stockholm by Sophie is run by me, Sophie Heine. I am an authorized tourist guide and tour leader with a background in journalism. I was born and raised in Stockholm. Today I live in Årsta, in the south of town.

When I do not guide foreign and Swedish guests in Stockholm, I work as a guide in the Riksdag, the Swedish Parliament. I tell about democracy and the history of the Swedish Parliament. I also, on a regular basis, guide in Årsta Palace Museum, a small Palace from 1700th century, south of Stockholm.

I also work as a tour leader. I travel with Scandinavian guests to, among other places, the Middle East.

I am a mother of three (now grown up, time flies!).

I am very interested in traditional music. I started playing the instrument nyckelharpa some years ago and the more I learn, the more I enjoy it. The nyckelharpa is part of some of my programs.

I have a background in journalism and have worked both in Sweden and abroad. In 1991-95 I was a freelance correspondent in Moscow and in 2003-2007 I was a reporter in Amman, Jordan. At home I have, among others, been a local reporter in Stockholm.

Today, I enjoy showing guests my city and tell about its citizens. I care for accessibility and strive for that everyone, regardless of functional ability, should be able to explore Stockholm.

Welcome to enjoy Stockholm and the Stockholmers together with me!
